About

High-quality images are necessary for any visual component of social and behavior change communication. Detailed quality images add context to SBC visual materials and help aid comprehension and provide credibility to the messages communicated. Visual aids with high-quality images also convey a professional look which helps people to trust the information. Images that people can relate to facilitate identification with those demonstrating the improved practices and promote adoption of these practices.

In 2010, UNICEF developed and launched an integrated package of training, counseling, and take-home materials known as the Community Infant and Young Child Feeding Counselling Package (C-IYCF package), using high quality graphic illustrations. Since then, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), funded the Infant and Young Child Nutrition (IYCN), and the Strengthening Partnerships, Results, and Innovations in Nutrition Globally (SPRING) and USAID Advancing Nutrition projects to adapt, test and expand the C-IYCF package in several countries.

The generic C-IYCF package and the corresponding images have been adopted and/or adapted by UNICEF and partners in over 70 countries globally. Previously, editable versions of the original illustrations and their adaptations have been held by UNICEF and different organizations, without a systematic way to share images or make them more widely available. The IYCF Digital Image Bank aims to make the C-IYCF generic illustrations and specific adaptations available in editable formats, to organizations creating print materials and other visual aids aimed at promoting maternal, infant, and young child nutrition as well as responsive care and early learning.

The IYCF Digital Image Bank, originally developed under SPRING in collaboration with UNICEF, continued to expand through contributions from global nutrition implementers like you, as well as the generous support from USAID.
